Ok - the show this past weekend - the one I was getting the choreography written for - well, I really didn't need to worry as much as I did..............

As it turned out - there are 2 versions of the song I wanted to use and I had the one released in France with a French chorus section.  The show organizer had the "US" version which was only song in Arabic and was a rather different arrangement of the song.  Neither of us knew of the other song's existence and the running times must have been very close, so it was a very honest mix-up.

Well, I found out about this other version  as I am there on stage, in front of a decently large audience..... the song starts, sounds a bit odd/different, then the taxim went twice as long as the version I had worked with and I knew I was "in trouble" and that my choreography was probably not going to fit and that I would have to improv.  Can you say PANIC!!! grin.

I was able to use some of my combos and after the taxim there was a section where I had my back to the audience put I could see the MC/host of the show and I mouthed "it's a different version" with panic most likely all over my face.  Well,  I pressed on, did this and that (I have no real idea what I did) and then got the thought...........

When will it end?  How long is the song?  How will I know to stop????? grin

Fortunately it was close enough in spots that I was able to figure out that it was ending and stopped dancing when the music stopped.  And then I tried not to just run off the stage..... see this was the first time I had improv-ed in a show.  Yeah, I had done it in class and at home, but never in front of an audience.

In some respects, it was good that it was a solo.  I am working it up as a duet for an upcoming show, so I guess it could have been worse, grin.
